Submissions

The Annual Native American Indian Film & Video Festival of the southeaset is the longest ongoing festival of it’s kind in the Southeast United States dedicated to showcasing the best new indigenous film and video from across the United States and Canada, Central American, South American, Australia and from around the world. Our mandate is to celebrate and cultivate indigenous storytelling. We screen narrative and documentary features, as well as short films and music videos. The Festival schedule includes seminars, talks, outdoor screenings, receptions, educational programs and other special events.

With so much activity packed into multiple days, we need hundreds of volunteers. Volunteers are the backbone of the festival; It could not happen without the energy and hard work provided by our enthusiastic volunteers. We invite you to sign up to join us this year.

Year after year, it is the volunteers who make our event such a success, and each festival even better than the last. Volunteers take part in many different aspects of the festival, from behind-the-scenes planning to event hospitality to promotional and outreach opportunities.

Would you like to volunteer?

As a not-for-profit film series run by a very small staff, we rely on a variety of volunteer help. Here are some of the possibilities.

Film Series Intern: Each year the Film Festival has an internship available for a student from any educational institution in Columbia, SC. Interns will work closely with the director on program development and publicity. They will also meet filmmakers and participate in screenings. Interns should have some web skills, knowledge or love of film, and a desire to learn.

Grant writing or Marketing Volunteer: If you have training in marketing or grant writing, we can use your help. Our film festival relies on in-kind and cash donations to fund film and screening room rentals, purchase equipment, rent venues, pay guest speakers and filmmakers, and finance our traveling film series to reservations and Native American Indian rural communities in South Carolina and the southeast. We need this help year-round.

Help with Posters and Email Flyers: Every year we publish a season poster and send monthly reminders via email and list serves about our upcoming events surrounding the festival. If you would like to help post flyers and posters in your neighborhood or are willing to pass on our email information, WE NEED YOU!

Event Volunteer: Do you enjoy community involvement? Each year we have special events that include guest speakers, receptions, and opportunities to meet interesting people.

These are some of the areas you could help us with:

  • Direct people to the screening rooms
  • Help with catering donations
  • Coordinate and find new volunteers

If you don’t find one that fits you perfectly, but have a great idea in mind, please let us know.
